"It starts with food, but it's not really about food." It's about...
All the feelings after an intense week with @southernfoodways, @livingwallsatl, @civicatlanta, and more. Peace. #welovebuhi #bufordhighway #weloveatl
Meet Barbara Son, owner of Dish Korean Cuisine, holding the KFC (Korean fried chicken) the restaurant is rolling out! Barbara is a Korean immigrant who grew up in Canada and who, on a trip back to Korea, met her husband Hann, then fulfilling his required military service. He moved to Atlanta to attend architecture school at Georgia Tech, she joined him here, and the rest is history. Stop by this gorgeous restaurant for their brand new KFC, available in salt+pepper and spicy versions, and to revel in the interior, designed and built by Hann himself. #kfc #koreanfriedchicken #saltandpepper #spicy #pickledradish #daikon #welovebuhi #weloveatl

Buford Highway is the beauty we did not see, or understand, that was always right before us. Thanks @stevenpaulalvarez for the reintroduction, and for capturing the Guadalupes - Our Lady of Guadalupe is the patron saint of Mexico - of Buford Highway. #lavirgendeguadalupe #nuestrasenoradeguadalupe #guadalupe #patronsaint #mexico #🇲🇽 #bufordhighway #welovebuhi #weloveatl
"This is a tough business. Don't do it." Meet Harold Shinn, legendary owner of THE Buford Highway Farmers Market, a large ethnic specialty food emporium, one of the few things that allows Atlanta to truly claim world-class status. (My favorite is the Hello Kitty section and the snack and candy aisle.) Thanks, Harold, for taking the time to speak with the @southernfoodways #OralHistory Workshop today! #welovebuhi #weloveatl #worldclass #international

The future of suburban malls: movie theater ➡️ nightclub ➡️??? Site selection for #LWBUHI2017 continues at the space formerly known as Atlanta Peach with @naptimehacker, @monicaxcampana, @_florista_, and Northeast Plaza property manager Christa Isaf. BTW, have you seen the view of the Atlanta skyline from here? #livingwalls #livingmalls #weloveatl #welovebuhi
#WeLoveBuHi is a belief that, everyday, when we reframe problem as opportunity, anxiety as excitement, and false choices as collective wisdom and strength, we are better, more beautiful, and more powerful than we could ever hope. And, that this is true for communities just as it is for individuals. Thanks @plywoodpeople for inviting us to share our #attitude! #repost @plywoodpeople
I have always been afraid. Afraid of failure, rejection, disappointment, embarrassment, my temper, shame, heartbreak, pain. Even in the best and happiest of times, particularly then, I have always expected, with dread, the inevitable rebalancing. Perhaps I have even embraced the rebalancing, to redefine for myself the importance and the impact of all those emotions.
Because realizing that when the worst thing that can happen, happens, and knowing that I will survive, even thrive, is immensely liberating.
When the worst thing that can happen, happens, I've learned that a day is a good day when I have survived it.
A day is a better day when I've forced myself to smile at another human being, because anything more, even whispering hello, would require an impossible amount of effort, and magically that other human being smiles back.
And a day is a great day when something or some place or someone, perhaps me or something about myself, that I formerly had overlooked, ignored, thought was unlovable and unworthy, even outright rejected, reveals itself as beautiful, unique, valuable, and worthy of the deepest gratitude and love.
So be afraid. Despair if necessary. Be angry if justified. And always, always, choose love. -#plywords from Marian Liou, founder of @welovebuhi
